1. Can all the ports be used at the same time as it's charging?

Yes, all ports can be used at the same time when it is charging from the wall plug.

2. Any solar charger can charge this Powerhouse II 400?

Any (12V-28V) solar charger with DC 7909 Male connector can charge the Powerhouse II 400; No limitation for the current since our device will adapt to it automatically. Recharging will be faster at higher power ( support maximum 65W solar charging). We usually recommend customer to purchase a 100W solar charger with DC 7909 Male connector to charge the Powerhouse for full charging speed as the actual output wattage will be lower than the rated wattage due to light intensity

3. Will it lose charge automatically if we do not turn off the button?

When any of the control buttons are turned on, even if no devices are being charged, there will still be a certain amount of no-load power consumption. Please turn off the button when you do not use the Powerhouse.

4. How to store the Powerhouse if we do not use the Powerhouse for a long period?

To extend your battery's life:

1. Please charge up the Powerhouse around 75%, turn off all output button;

2. Discharge and recharge it at least once every 6-7 months.

3. Place your battery in a well-ventilated, dry place, away from moisture and high temperatures.

UPDATE: There is an issue with the supplied 12v car charger. I contacted Anker and was told that the next batch would ship with a different charger. They offered the option to return the unit or to send me an updated version of the car charger along with a partial refund for my troubles. Since I really like the unit I opted to keep it and avoid the hassle of having to exchange it. I will update my rating once my unit is made whole again.

Why do I need an additional battery to power my cooler when my Tesla has a giant 100kwh battery underneath? Well, the giant battery operates at 400v so all Teslas have a smaller 12v battery to run the cars 12v systems. The 12v battery is charged by the 400v battery as needed. In order to preserve overall energy, the car cuts off the 12v power when the car is locked and sleeping.

There are ways to keep the car awake while locked, one such way is to turn on Sentry Mode. I thought that I was going to get away with that and save myself a few hundred dollars. The cooler wasn''t cheap, the last thing that I wanted to do was to spend another $400+ on a battery. However, that didn''t turn out to be a reliable solution.

It seemed to work fine after a few short tests, but in my overnight test, I came back to find the cooler at 10 degrees hotter. I suspect that the cooler''s battery protection feature kicked in and turned the cooler off when the voltage dropped below the set threshold. As I mentioned earlier, the car decides when to charge the 12v battery. I guess I could have tested further and dropped the cooler''s battery protection threshold to the low setting. But that didn''t feel safe. I also came up with a few other reasons why Sentry Mode is not the most reliable solution. So I set out to find the perfect battery to power my cooler.

OK, now you are wondering why I am spending over $1,500 on an electric cooler solution when a rotomolded cooler such as the Yeti or the one that I already have the Rovr 65 work fine? Well, they do and I have taken my Rovr on a month-long cross country road trip, NY to Montana and back visiting national parks along the way. Topping off with ice very couple of days, draining the melted water, ensuring the food is well sealed and not swimming in the slush... you get the point. Space is also at a premium in a car, rotomolded coolers are bulky and ice takes up space. With an electric cooler, I was able to get the same usable space as a 65 qt cooler in a 45qt size, thereby saving space in my trunk and never having to worry about ice again. But of course, electric coolers present challenges of their own.

So why am I telling you all of this and haven''t said a single thing about the Anker Powerhouse II? Well, to be honest, I thought these types of batteries were expensive and useless until I had my own use case for it. It wouldn''t make sense to review a niche product without explaining my needs since yours might be different.

So why did I choose the Anker Powerhouse II over the other products that are currently available on Amazon? Firstly, I have a bunch of other Anker products and I have come to trust their reliability. The best type of customer service is one that you never have to deal with! But also because this product met my criteria much better than anything else that is currently out there.

1. It is as sexy looking as one could expect a battery to be.
2. Has enough power to run my cooler for 32hrs without charging. I probably could have gotten away with a 200wh battery. But due to the design of some of the other coolers, they don''t appear to be any smaller in size. Having the extra power is a plus.
3. It can charge itself while powering my cooler. There were only a few packs that I looked at which did not have this ability, nevertheless, it is a must-have feature for my use case. When I take a long road trip I want this to be a set it and forget it type of thing. I don''t want to deal with charging batteries, for that I''d go back to using ice.
4. As I mentioned earlier, space in my trunk is at a premium when hitting the road for weeks with a family of 4. At 10.2 lbs it is not terribly heavy. I could have shaved off 3 or 4 lbs by going with a smaller pack. But the form factor isn''t that much larger. The Jackery 240 weights less but it is larger in size due to the handle design.
5. I will primarily use this to power my cooler, but it doesn''t hurt that it has a few extra features that I can potentially use. 60W USB C chargeable, I can leave the charging brick at home and only bring my laptop charger with me.

Some cons/concerns/recomendations.
While the handle looks really nice, I wish it were removable or foldable to save space.
Due to the battery chemistry, the operating temperature of this unit is well below that of what a car can get to in the sun. Cars can easily reach 140F while this unit will only operate at up to 120F. My car has a Cabin Overheat Protection feature where it will turn the AC on to keep the interior temp below 105F. Therefore, it wasn''t a deal-breaker for me, but it may be for you. If so, stay away from Lithium-ion.
It is not recommended to keep these batteries charged at 100% for an extended period of time, I would love to have the ability to limit the charge to 80%. This would extend the longevity of the battery since I plan to keep it plugged in all the time.

Update: Amazon put me in touch with Anker and they gave me instructions how to reset the device, posting it here for everyone''s benefit. See the attached photo for the ID of each button. It did take me three tries before it worked:

"I also confirmed with our engineer team, they mentioned that to reset the Powerhouse may solve the issue.

1. Press the Button 2-USB port button (see attached) first, the button will be in blue;
2. Press the Button 1- DC (car charger) port button and Button 4-Led light button (round light on the side) simultaneously once, the Button-4- led light will flash once.
3. Press the Button 3- AC port button and Button 4-Led light button (round light on the side) simultaneously once, the display screen will be in close
4. Press the Button 2- USB port button and Button 3-AC port button for 5 seconds, then the Powerhouse is in ''locked'' status.

If you do the above steps unsuccessful the first time, you can repeat the step1-4 until the Powerhouse is in ''locked'' status. Keep the Powerhouse in ''locked'' status for 5-10 minutes, then use the USB C wall charger and the USB C to USB C cable to charge the Powerhouse to see if it works this time. We do have customers who tried to reset the Powerhouse three times and then the USB C port works."

----------
A lot packaged into this unit. We used it for a drive-in and a road trip. No issues with the battery charging from AC.

The USB-C does not work, input or output. For that, I would recommend something else unless you purchase it knowing that limitation.

I purchased this item as emergency battery for our office.
It was sent directly from Anker, and was very fast shipping.
However I found USB type-C port did not work both charging/out put PD power to device.
I tried many kinds of USB-C cable but all of them failed.
I contacted anker customer support and they said it need to reset and recovering.
The process was very complicated, and there were 4 steps as follows;
1. Press the USB port botton first, the button will be in blue;
2. Press the DC (car charger) port button and Button Led light button (round light on the side) simultaneously once, the led light will flash once. The DC port button is in blue;
3. Press the AC port button and Led light button (round light on the side) simultaneously once, the display screen will be in close
4. Press the USB port button and AC port button simultaneously for 10 seconds to discharge the power ( must last for 10 seconds), then the Powerhouse is in ''locked'' status.

If you do the above steps unsuccessful the first time, you can repeat the step1-4 until the Powerhouse is in ''locked'' status.

5. Keep the Powerhouse in ''locked'' status for 5 minutes, then use the USB C wall charger and the USB C to USB C cable (or the supplied AC adapter) to charge the Powerhouse to see if it works this time.

I have to do step 1 to 4 in appropriate timing, means if you do it too slow, it won''t work and you have to do it again from step 1.

After this recovery process my USB-C port came back life.

Anker support said there was other customer have to do this 3 times then back to normal, so they recommended to do it maltiple times if resetting process does not work.
Also this advice ment this USB Type-C port problems happening a lot among purchased customer.
I don''t know it will happen again with my device, but I purchased it for emergency situation in our office, so I have to print out this instruction and attached to battery for future user in our office.

I think Anker has great customer survice and I love it, but this product is not reliable from day one, and not good as emergency battery.

Do not buy it if you are looking for emergency battery.

I ordered this device a few months ago hoping I would be able to justify the cost by at least trying to find a use for it. At the time of purchase, I also went ahead and bought a 120w solar panel for it (yes, the input it limited to 65w, IF only being supplied via the 8mm jack).

Charging is a convenient factor of the device. It can be charged at up to 65w from the 8mm wall adapter, and 60w from the type-C port. Also, they can both supply power at the same time. Meaning that you can charge the device at up to 125w using both sources. Also worth noting, you can still use the device while charging! It negates the load you have connected out of the charging rate. Meaning that if you''re charging at 65w, and you plug in a 30w load, you''ll begin charging at 35w. Plus, if you have a Dell laptop charger laying around, you can charge via that adapter as well!

Boy, did I make the right choice. A couple weeks after purchasing this, we had a hurricane hit. We didn''t have power for 2.5 days. The ability to (almost) silently run a small fan throughout the night while also being able to charge our mobile devices automatically made the investment worth it.

Fast forward about a week, my girlfriend and I went camping. We ran a 100w equivalent LED for a couple hours while setting up our campsite and also while cooking some burgers on a portable camp stove. Also, it charged out phones through the night with plenty left over in the morning.

Exactly one week after that, we had yet another hurricane. This one wasn''t quite as bad, but we still lost power for a couple days. The built in lights are a fantastic touch, while barely drawing any power at the same time. The morning after the storm, the weather was beautiful meaning I was able to recharge the device via solar.

Finally, I''ve begun taking it with me on outings to charge my LiPo batteries for my RC hobby. I have a charger that can be run on AC/DC, so I''m able to run it purely off the DC side of things, negating any efficiency lost via the AC inverter, which only comes out to around 9-10w.

Speaking of the AC inverter, it''s quite robust. I''ve stress tested it before and it does have a form of over-current protection built in, meaning that it won''t get ruined if you so happen to demand a load that it is not capable of. It will simply shut off the inverter. At a continuous load of around 50w and up, there is a fan that seems to be PWM controlled that will come on and ramp up or down, depending on the load. It isn''t loud by any means, but it is there. Just something to take note of.

I cannot recommend this device enough. Anyone who wants to be a little more prepared in uncertain times or simply have a reliable off grid power source, this device is certainly for you. Anker has been a brand I''ve used for many years now for cables, chargers, and power banks. I''ve never once been dissatisfied with any of the items I''ve purchased from them with this being no exception.

I had purchased this just a few weeks ago, after doing much research. I had bought a DC to DC converter for my ResMed Airsense 10 as well. When we lost power in the evening after encountering the western eyewall of Zeta I broke this Anker out and set it up. I ran my CPAP with a low level of humidifier, and slept about 8 hours. In the morrning the charge level was at 58%.

I hooked it up to a 500W Inverter on my car and it charged at a steady 52 watts for a couple hours. When my other power bank was finished recharging by solar panel, I moved this Anker over to it. The PAXcess 120 Solar panel has an 8mm plug, and it fit perfectly on the DC input of the Anker. I found out later that the Anker takes a 7.9mm plug, but that there is no problem with an 8 being used. The panel charged at a variable 56 to 63 watts until finished in about an hour and a half. An hour later just after sunset we had power restored, only 24 after it went out.

Overall, on its first use in an emergency, I am very pleased with this device and strongly recommend it!

EDIT: Since then I have been using it here and there. It powered a small ceramic space heater on the AC, and I have used it to power a 12v tire pump for car tires, as well as charging my phone with the free sunlight I charge it with. I use it to run USB LED lights at my garage workshop, and have run a 280W mini-space heater (on AC) from it as well for just a few minutes to take the chill off the walk-in closet. I''ve still only had to charge it a few times, so it has plenty of life left. Good thing, because this is my "go-to" of my power stations.

The Anker Power Station is very portable, comparable to a Yeti 400. The display is nice and quite bright. I like that it indicates both the power draw and remaining time available both when charging another device and when charging the unit itself (versus just showing a battery percentage).
I wish the handle collapsed to make the top flat. But the unit is built well as initial quality appears to be similar to the Yeti.
Selfishly, I would have liked one additional AC outlet as this will typically be used to charge laptops, but the 60w usb C port will help with charging the usb C compatible laptops.
The night light is a nice touch. I doubt I would ever use this as a flashlight, but that could prove to be useful as well.
The flaps covering the outlets I''d a nice touch to protect it from the elements but not sure if they will last after prolonged use.
Overall, great value for the money.

Some conditions must also be met, as well. Charge rate drops off around 80%. Above ~80%, you won''t see a higher charge rate than about 60W and it may fall further as you approach 100%. This is normal due to the chemistry of Li-ion batteries; this is common even with phones, laptops, and electric vehicles, for example (some of them just lie to you about charging time and factor this drop into charging time/rate to give the impression of a consistent charge). Anker support informed me that they included an "underpowered" AC adapter to reduce the heat impact from charging. The battery will reduce its charge rate if it gets too hot during charging--this is normal as well and is necessary to protect the battery.

Note that I had to perform the USB C reset as mentioned by other customers to get USB C charging to work. I originally thought my unit was defective, but based on this info from Anker, it seems to be operating normally. Support informed me that they would consider updating the description to clarify some of these quirks.

Otherwise, this has been useful in the car and I can get a positive charge rate even while using my laptop for everything except the most graphics-intensive games and processes.

As usual, Anker support was excellent so I have re-revised my star rating.
